Description

Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Tele Overflow (Med/Tele)

Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Experience:

    • Minimum 18 months tele/acute care experience required; 2 years preferred
    • Must have PCU or Cardiac Tele experience (must be reflected in work history)
    • Experience with vasoactive drips & stroke patients required
  • Certifications Required:

    • AHA BLS (must have at time of submittal)
    • ACLS (must have at time of submittal)
    • NIHSS (must obtain prior to start)
  • License:

    • Pending license accepted
    • State license verification and primary source verification required within 30 days of start
  • Other Requirements:

    • Must be nicotine-free (smoke-free facility)
    • Negative 10 Panel Drug Screen + Nicotine (cotinine) test required within 1 year of start
    • Must include all requested time off (RTO) upfront at submission
    • First-time travelers accepted
    • Locals accepted at same rate
    • Willingness to float within scope to all 3 hospitals within 20 miles

Schedule & Hours

  • Guaranteed hours:
    • 36 hours for 3x12-hour shifts
    • 40 hours for 8 or 10-hour shifts
  • Block scheduling not accommodated

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

Background Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start (Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide)

Health Documents

  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Required immunizations or titers:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS and BLS (AHA only)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (annual completion required)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation for RNs/LPNs
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (HIPAA)
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing

Documentation & Training

  • Online training modules must be completed by due date prior to start (access provided after contract signing)
  • Modules must be completed on a computer using Google Chrome; video must be watched before test
  • Time-sensitive modules must be prioritized and completed without delay

References & History

  • Two professional references required within 2 years of start for travel and acute care positions
  • Employment application required
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
  • Performance evaluation required if worked with the system over 1 year

Additional Notes

  • Floating to other hospitals within 20 miles may be required
  • Facility is smoke-free; nicotine use is not permitted
  • Drug screen does not need annual renewal unless expiring during contract
  • Candidates must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
  • Fingerprint clearance must be on file prior to start; candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending

This position is ideal for RNs with tele/acute care experience, especially those skilled in PCU or Cardiac Telemetry, comfortable with vasoactive drips and stroke patient care, and able to comply with strict onboarding and compliance requirements.
