Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) - Temporary Position

Job Description

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with cognitive and/or physical functioning disorders under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
• Utilize evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions.
• Administer procedures including ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with supervising Occupational Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Report treatment effectiveness and provide consultation to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and healthcare team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.
• Provide input for discharge summaries and document all required information in the electronic documentation system.
• Accurately record treatment minutes per regulatory and clinical requirements.
• Participate in required meetings such as patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, and rehabilitation meetings.
• Attend facility and company-required trainings, in-services, and conferences.
• Collaborate with supervising Occupational Therapist to obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies.
• Supervise and support students under the guidance of the Occupational Therapist.
• Adhere to NBCOT, AOTA, and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.
• Maintain active state licensure/registration as applicable.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of OTA experience - Required
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) - Required
• Valid OTA license - Required
• New graduates are acceptable if they have Level II experience (not just Level I observation experience)

Licensing

• Missouri State License required
• Compact license allowed

Additional Information

• Standard 8-hour shifts
• Overtime and holiday pay at 1.25x
• Call back pay available
