Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - PACU

Job Description

• Position in Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at an outpatient surgery center
• Shift: Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM – 6:00 PM
• Responsibilities include working in pre-op, phase 1 and phase 2 recovery
• Pediatric recovery experience required
• Charting in EPIC electronic health record system
• Dress code: dark blue scrubs
• No call, no weekends
• Floating not required unless staffing needs change
• First-time travelers accepted if experience requirements are met

Experience & Certifications Required

• Minimum 2 years of PACU experience
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI accepted

Time Off / Scheduling Notes

• Maximum of 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved
• RTO not allowed during these blackout periods:

  • December 21, 2025 – January 3, 2026
  • March 14 – March 21, 2026
  • May 8 – May 11, 2026
  • May 21 – May 27, 2026
• Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions

Required Documentation & Compliance

• I9 or Attestation
• Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
• E-Verify or Attestation
• Proof of legal name change if applicable
• 7-year background check including:

  • SSN Trace
  • Colorado Background Investigation Unit child abuse/neglect search (for pediatrics)
  • Education verification from accredited nursing schools (CCNE or ACEN)
  • Sex offender and sanctions list searches
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 60 days of start
• Transcript or diploma acceptable for education verification
• State nursing license verification (NURSYS) within 60 days of start
• References: 2 from last 2 years, including one from last year, from charge RN, manager, or supervisor
• Employment application and work history verification covering last 3 years
• Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, core parts I-III, OSHA)
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam within 1 year and updated annually

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
• Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (specific approved masks required)
• Immunizations and titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or signed declination
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual updates if positive TB history
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity via titer or vaccines
  • Hepatitis B immunity or vaccination series or declination
  • Varicella immunity or vaccination
• Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually thereafter
• Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific exemption during flu season (starting 09/15)
• COVID-19 vaccination or signed declination (dose 1, fully vaccinated, booster)
• Color blind testing: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)

This position is suitable for experienced PACU RNs with pediatric recovery experience seeking a travel contract in Colorado with a structured weekday schedule and no weekend or call responsibilities.
