Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Cartersville, Georgia
Facility: Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (WOCN certification highly preferred)
- Schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday
- Weekend: None
- Call: None
- Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
- Minimum Experience: 2 years (first-time travelers accepted)
- Contract Length: 12 weeks
Assignment Expectations
- Holiday Work:
- If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it.
- If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both.
- If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them.
- Major Holidays Include:
Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day - Orientation: Bi-weekly schedule; full compliance required to start on time. Non-compliance results in a 2-week delay.
- Locals Accepted: Same pay rate as travelers.
Required Certifications & Competencies
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for many RN specialties including ER, Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, etc.
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – Required for certain specialties like ER, PACU if pediatric patients accepted
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Specialty dependent
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – Online course required post-hire, no re-certification needed
- State License (Georgia) – Must be current within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS Verification – Annual verification within 30 days prior to start
- Tech Cert Verification (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (if required by specialty)
- Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs by Aya)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, ICU, ER, etc.) – 3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation
- General Competency Exam (required for Nursing and Allied by Aya)
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including criminal, sex offender, education verification, and more. Cannot start with background pending.
- Education Verification: Required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
- Physical Exam: Required by Aya within 1 year of start.
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending. Instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions.
- TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually.
- Immunizations:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed post-start if eligible.
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters allowed post-start if eligible.
- Hepatitis B – Series, antibody titer, or signed declination required.
- Flu Vaccine or Declination – Required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31).
- References: Two clinical references required by Aya (not required by client).
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually within 12 months.
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start).
Additional Notes
- Floating assignments are within the facility and scope of practice.
- Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment).
- Candidates must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start.
This position offers a structured schedule with no weekends or call, suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience, including first-time travelers. Compliance with all certifications, background checks, and health documentation is mandatory for timely start.
