• Unit: Emergency Department
• Beds: 12
• Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:4 (rarely 1:5)
• Shifts: 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Potentially required
• Floating Requirement: No
• Floor-specific orientation provided

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Skills and Experience

• Telemetry skills needed
• Basic cardiology knowledge required (ability to read cardiac strips)
• Experience with drips required
• Occasional ventilator management with Respiratory Therapist support
• Familiarity with EMR systems: Paragon & Touchworks

Support and Resources

• Charge Nurse: No
• Nurse Aides: Yes
• Respiratory Therapy: 24/7 coverage (in-house and on-call)
• Hospitalist coverage: Yes
• IV Team: No
• Pharmacy: 24/7 coverage (in-house and remote services)

• Acute Stroke Ready Certified
• Typical Emergency Department patient cases
