Job Opportunity: OR CST (Surgical Services)
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Operating Room Certified Surgical Technologist (OR CST)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (Wednesday to Friday, nights, 7 PM - 7 AM, in-house)
- Number of ORs: 12
- On-Call: Yes, option for weekend call every 5th weekend
- Weekend Requirement: Yes, per call schedule
- Floating: Yes, floating between service lines required (no floating to sister facilities)
Experience & Certification Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of well-rounded OR experience
- First Time Travelers: Accepted
- National Certification: NBSTSA required (NCCT not accepted)
- Case Experience Required: Neurosurgery, Vascular Thoracic, Orthopedics/Spine including total joints
- Preferred Case Experience: General Surgery Robotics, Urology Robotics, GYN Robotics
- BLS: Required (AHA or ARC only)
- Radiation Badge: Required and must be provided by the agency (facility does NOT provide badges)

- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Must include SSN trace, county checks outside SC, SC statewide, sex offender registry, national criminal, FACIS 3
- International background checks required
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification not required for this facility

- EFM (AWHONN or NCC acceptable)

- State License: South Carolina RN license required or compact license; walk-through/temp license option available for eligible candidates
- NURSYS verification for RNs and LPNs/LVNs
Health Requirements
- Physical exam (initial and annual) attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days (2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold not accepted; T-spot or Q-Gold accepted)
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella
- Hepatitis B titer or vaccine series or declination
- 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID vaccination not required but highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
- Respirator clearance annually for patient-facing staff
Facility-Specific Documents
- Clear, passport-style photo for badge
- Signed assignment acknowledgment, code of conduct, confidentiality agreement, HR policy manual, systems user agreement, user access request, job description, HIPAA confidentiality agreement
- Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2-4 hours)
- COVID exemption form if requesting religious exemption

- Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start

Additional Notes
- Scrubs are provided by the facility.
- Charting is done in Epic.
- Radiation badges may take 5-7 days to process; candidates cannot start without their badge.
- All certifications must be valid beyond 30 days from start date; expiring certifications must be renewed prior to start or have a course scheduled.
- No local travelers accepted due to radius rule.
- Travelers must upload vaccination and flu documentation into the facility’s system prior to start.
- Facility may call off shifts but will guarantee a minimum number of hours as described.
This position is ideal for CSTs with at least one year of diverse OR experience, who are comfortable working night shifts with on-call responsibilities, and who meet the certification and compliance requirements listed above.
