Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics - Travel/Contract
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Job Requirements
Licenses & Certifications:
- Indiana State License (IN license) must be in hand to submit
- NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, RQI acceptable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA NRP only (required for placements in Labor & Delivery; may be obtained after offer)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Experience:
- Minimum 18 months recent experience in NICU or PICU required
- Must have Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience as primary assignment will be in L&D
- Trauma 1 experience in a children’s hospital within the last year required
- Experience with ventilators: Servo I, Servo U, Hamilton G5
Shift:
- 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every other weekend (EOW) required
Unit Assignment & Floating:
- Primary unit: NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics (Peds)
- Floating between NICU, PICU, and Peds units possible
- May also float to IU Health North Hospital
Additional Notes:
- First-time travelers accepted
- Effective 11/30/2024, Indiana RNs are generally not allowed to work at IU Health facilities except for Perioperative/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (including ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS)
Required Documentation & Compliance
Background Checks:
- Must include 7 years of residence/work history
- SSN Trace, County Criminal, Statewide, National Sex Offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification (new travelers only)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
Health & Immunization Requirements:
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
Competency & Skills:
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (not required for Techs or RRTs)
- Unit competency exam required
- Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Skills checklist within 12 months, updated annually
Facility-Specific Requirements:
- Completion of mandatory RRT modules (21 modules) prior to orientation for RRT candidates
- Completion of facility-specific compliance, confidentiality, orientation, and policy forms (time sensitive)
- References: Minimum 2 references from recent employment verified within 2 years, from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
Summary
This travel contract position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists with strong NICU, PICU, and L&D backgrounds, holding an Indiana license and NBRC RRT certification. The role requires flexibility to float between pediatric critical care units and adherence to strict certification, health, and compliance requirements. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks with 12-hour shifts and every other weekend coverage. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
