Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ICU RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Salem, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start Date: January 5th or later


Position Details

  • Unit: General ICU/PCU with floating between units
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:2 or 1:1
  • Patient Diagnoses:
    • Sepsis
    • Respiratory failure
    • Traumatic brain injury
    • Neurosurgical interventions
    • Multi-system organ failure
    • Stroke
    • GI bleeding
    • Cardiac/respiratory arrest
    • Complex vascular surgery
    • Multi-system trauma
  • No open heart or cardiac ICU patients

Requirements

Experience

  • Minimum 18 months experience in a large hospital (>300 beds)
  • No first-time travelers accepted
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • 2 years of skills including:
    • IV starts
    • Telemetry
    • Conscious sedation
    • Ventilator management

Certifications (Required)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)

Preferred Certifications

  • CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Preferred Skills

  • ICP (Intracranial Pressure monitoring)
  • Pulmonary artery lines

Compliance & Documentation

  • Background Checks: Criminal background check within 90 days, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education Verification: Required for non-licensed providers; transcript or diploma acceptable
  • Licensure: Valid RN license with NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start
  • Competency Exams:
    • General competency exam (80% passing score)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (85% passing score) for ICU and related units
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start
    • Fit mask testing onsite within first week of start
    • Immunizations and titers: Tdap, TB screening, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Drug testing: 10-panel within 90 days of start
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination required

Additional Information

  • Badge photo required at least 8 days prior to start (white background)
  • Completion of required HealthStream modules before start date
  • References: Two references within last 2 years, including one supervisory reference within last 12 months
  • Telemetry skills checklist required for all RNs

This position is ideal for experienced ICU nurses comfortable with complex critical care patients and working night shifts in a fast-paced environment.
