Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • 2 positions available
  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours each (3x12s) with varied start times (may start as early as 5 AM)
  • Preferred start date: December 15; may consider January 5
  • No first-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (AHA only; Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
  • BLS (AHA only; Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
  • PALS (AHA only; Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – as applicable
  • CHEMO (Chemotherapy) – as applicable
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – as applicable
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) – as applicable
  • ENPC – as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification – as applicable
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual update required)
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for Telemetry RNs
  • Tech Cert Verification - National (within 30 days of start)
  • State License Verification (within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP) within 30 days of start
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing (for Telemetry RNs)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year background check required within 1 year of start; updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • Education verification (highest level) or transcript/diploma
  • Texas-specific checks:
    • TX DADS Employability Status Check within 30 days of start
    • TX Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 3M 1860S) – annual update required
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; time sensitive within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Rubeola (Measles): Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
  • Mumps: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
  • Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; MMR booster if negative/equivocal
  • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series (3), or declination; booster or declination post titer if low/equivocal
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if negative/equivocal
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required from October 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026 (religious or medical exemptions accepted)

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test accepted)
  • Competency Exam (as applicable)
  • Skills Checklist (annual update required)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules (~3-4 hours)
  • Review and sign various facility-specific acknowledgments and agreements prior to start, including:
    • Vaccination Information Acknowledgment
    • TB and Occupational Exposure Acknowledgment
    • Patient Centered Pledge
    • Contract Employee Receipt and Acknowledgement
    • Computer Security Agreement
    • Corporate Compliance Acknowledgment
    • Confidentiality Statement
    • Employee Misconduct Registry Acknowledgment
    • Self Identify Form
    • Relationship to Physician Form
    • Authorization for Background Check
    • Traveler Identification Form (must be completed prior to start)
  • Review of Employee Handbook (information only)

Additional Information

  • 2 professional references required within 3 years of start
  • Resume or employment application required
  • Parking available for orientation and employment (no fee)

This position requires experienced travel nurses with all certifications current and compliance with strict background, health, and facility-specific documentation.
