Unit: 3North, Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant
Number of Beds: 25
Patient Ratios: 4:1
Typical Length of Patient Stay: 14-21 days
Shift Staffing:
- Day Shift: 1 charge nurse, 6-8 RNs, 1 ACT
- Night Shift: 1 charge nurse, 6-8 RNs
Equipment Used: Mobilab, Welch Allyn vital machine, Alaris IV pump
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Required Skills and Experience

Minimum Years of Experience: 2 years in Med Surg specialty (higher requirement confirmed)
Required Skills: Medical-Surgical nursing experience (candidates without this will not be considered)
Preferred Skills: Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplant experience

Typical Procedures Performed

High dose chemotherapy
Stem cell infusions
Blood transfusions
Electrolyte replacements
Central line maintenance

Certifications Required

Basic Life Support (BLS)

Work Schedule

2-3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule period

Additional Information

Personality Fit: Great teamwork, positive outlook, quick learner, enjoys patient interaction
Floating Areas: Other Oncology floors (3C and 4N), Main Tower Med Surg
Dress Code: Scrubs in grey, black, pink, navy blue, or white
Unit Policies: Emphasis on CLABSI prevention (scrub the hub, hand hygiene)
