Job Description

Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (Pediatrics) proficient in:

  • Medicated Aerosol Therapy (small volume nebulizers, breath actuated nebulizer, vibrating mesh nebulizers)
  • Patient education for aerosol, MDI, DPI therapy
  • Pentamidine administration
  • Medication carts, Omnicell, BarCoding Medication Administration
  • Airway clearance therapy (clapping, vibration, directed cough, PEP, oscillatory PEP)
  • Hyperinflation therapy (IS, EZPAP)
  • High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation
  • Intermittent Percussive Ventilation (IPV)
  • Cough assist, airway management, suctioning, tracheostomy care
  • Manual ventilation, intubation assist, assisted ventilation, mechanical ventilation, ventilator system checks
  • CPAP/BiPAP/NIMV, Negative Pressure Ventilation, initiation and management of NAVA
  • High risk delivery, surfactant administration, NRP protocol, T-piece ventilation, intubation
  • Blood gas sampling, analysis, and interpretation
  • Humidity therapy (heated humidity, aerosol mask, trach collar, t-piece, face shield, HME)
  • Clinical practice guidelines including asthma care path, CF care, RDS management and BPD prevention
  • Acute chest syndrome carepath, HFNC protocol, respiratory care consult service, nitric oxide protocol
  • Monitoring (pulse oximetry, peak flow meters, capnography, ventilator graphic interpretation)
  • Overnight or continuous pulse oximetry and capnography studies
  • Spontaneous breathing trial, transcutaneous CO2 monitoring
  • Transport HFNC portable unit, MRI and internal transport with assisted ventilation
  • Neonatal rapid response team, nitric oxide transport
  • Oxygen and special gas therapy (nasal cannula, oxygen masks, high flow nasal cannula, oxygen tanks, blenders, analyzers)
  • Inhaled nitric oxide 2-point calibration and troubleshooting
  • Sub-ambient oxygen, Heliox therapy
  • Equipment cleaning and maintenance

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Certifications & Credentials

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • NRP (American Academy of Pediatrics)
  • NBRC (National Board of Respiratory Care Certification)
  • License/Certificate Verification (valid permanent license required; temporary licenses not accepted)
  • MMR (Positive titers within last 15 years or approved booster protocol)
  • Varicella (Positive titers within last 15 years or approved booster protocol)
  • Tdap (Vaccination within last 10 years; no declinations accepted)
  • Influenza Vaccine (Proof required during flu season; declination requires mask and specific forms)
  • Fit Test (Completed within 1 year of start)
  • Hepatitis B (Proof of full series, partial series with declination, or positive titers within 15 years)
  • 2 Step PPD OR IGRA (Quantiferon/Tspot) (Negative reads within last 6 months; annual requirement)
  • Physical/Health Statement (Pre-employment exam within 1 year stating ability to work without restrictions)

Required Professional Verifications & Checks

  • UHS I-9 Attestation (Proof of eligibility to work)
  • UHS Ohio Fingerprints (BCI&I check and FBI fingerprint check depending on residency duration)
  • UHS Education Verification (Highest level of education verified through third-party)
  • UHS Employment Verification (Verification of employment within last 5 years)
  • UHS Competency Exam (Must score at least 80%, completed within 1 year prior to start)
  • UHS Core Competencies (80% passing score, completed within 1 year prior to start)
  • UHS Criminal Background Check (Within 6 months of start; includes national and sex offender checks)
  • UHS OIG Search (Completed within 6 months prior to start)
  • UHS SAM/EPLS/GSA/OFAC Screening (Completed within 6 months prior to start)
  • UHS Drug Screen (10 panel, completed within 60 days of start; no instant screens)
  • UHS Module Completion Certificate (Safety and compliance training; renewal annually)
  • UHS Social Security Trace (If not included in background check, completed within 1 year)
  • UHS NSO (If not included in background check, completed within 30 days)
  • UHS National Database Criminal Background Check (For Ohio residents to meet fingerprint requirements)

Additional Requirements

  • Resume including education and work history
  • Two professional references within last 2 years
  • Job application (agency form)
  • Employment history form for University Hospitals (if applicable)
  • UHS Badge Photo (Headshot, shoulders up, plain background, JPEG)
  • Driver’s License/State ID (Non-expired)
