Job Opportunity: IMU Registered Nurse (RN)

Location

• Facility located in Lynchburg, VA area (locals within 60 miles are not accepted)

Contract Length

• 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)

Schedule & Shifts

• 12-hour day shifts ending on Saturdays
• 36 or 48 hour contracts available
• Orientation every other Monday
• Unit tries to schedule 2 out of 3 weekends per month, but this may vary based on unit needs
• Must be able to work 2 of 3 winter holidays; no Christmas holiday time off approved
• Block scheduling no longer available; weekend-only requests may be considered

Patient Population & Unit Description

• Intermediate Care Unit (IMU) with a mix of:

  • Medical-surgical patients
  • Telemetry patients
  • Cardiac IMCU acuity level patients
  • Neurology patients, including CVA (stroke) patients
• Teaching hospital environment with frequent interaction with students and new hires; all team members expected to support a positive learning culture

Requirements & Preferences

• Prior travel nursing experience required for all positions
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required
• Charge nurse experience preferred
• Active Virginia or Compact nursing license required at start
• Cerner electronic health record experience preferred
• Submission packet must include:

  • Work history with explanations for any gaps over 90 days
  • Skills checklist
  • Copy of Nursys/license
  • All requested time off must be included at submission
• COVID and flu vaccine declinations accepted if approved
• Client may cancel assignment up to 36 hours in advance due to census changes

Additional Notes

• Only one assignment allowed, no renewals
• IV therapy skills required with limited requests for time off (RTO)
