Surgical Services Travel/Contract Job - Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

Position Overview

Schedule & Work Requirements

• Shifts: 5-8 hour shifts, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed by the unit
• Expected to work 2 of 3 major holidays; no return to office (RTO) between Christmas and New Year's
• Floating as needed
• Maximum return to office (RTO) time: 7 days

Certification & Experience Requirements

• Must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) as either:

  • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or
  • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• BLS certification required
• EPIC EMR experience required
• First-time travelers accepted

Work Environment

• May care for COVID-19 patients
• Tobacco and fragrance-free facility

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check required within 30 days of start, updated annually
• PA State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start, must be finalized prior to start
• PA FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start, renewed every 5 years
• Child Abuse History Clearance (PA Childline) required within 5 years of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification of highest degree required
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 1 year of start (Aya requirement only)
• 2 professional references within 3 years required
• Most recent resume/application required
• Skills checklist required annually
• Performance evaluations completed onsite during assignment

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start
• Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days of start; PPD not accepted
• Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
• Hepatitis B: Positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) required; declination form required if applicable
• Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required; boosters required if titers negative or equivocal
• Seasonal flu vaccination or valid medical/religious exemption required annually by October 31
• COVID-19 vaccine, medical/religious exemption, or declination accepted; required for internal reporting but does not block clearance
• Respiratory safety clearance required within 1 year of start, renewed annually

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (Basic Life Support) required
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke Certification as applicable (refer to unit/job description)
• National tech certification verification as applicable
• Medication and pharmacology competency exams as applicable
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for RNs (except OR and Home Health), with pass/fail remediation process
