Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity

Location: Burlington, Vermont
Specialty: Registered Nurse – High Risk Labor & Delivery (L&D)


Assignment Details

  • Start Date: December 15
  • Contract Length: 26 weeks
  • Schedule: Nights with occasional day shifts for schedule/vacation coverage
  • Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirement: Every weekend required
  • Shift Pattern: Monday to Sunday, no block schedules allowed
  • Work Setting: Large academic medical center
  • Experience Required:
    • Minimum 2 years in high risk L&D
    • EPIC experience within the past 2 years (mandatory)
    • First-time travelers considered if experience criteria met
  • Orientation: Bi-weekly on Mondays

Important Notes

  • Reliable personal or rental vehicle required; public transportation is not accessible
  • Vehicles must have all-season or snow tires from November through April
  • Complete and detailed work history required, including bed count, EMR, and facility type
  • All employment gaps over 90 days must be explained

Required Certifications & Verifications

  • ACLS (AHA approved, no recommended renewal dates accepted)
  • BLS (AHA approved)
  • PALS (if applicable, AHA approved)
  • State Nursing License verification (primary source within 30 days of start)
  • NURSYS verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
  • National Tech Certification verification within 30 days of start
  • Background Check within 30 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education Verification (based on job requirements)
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Color Blind Testing (required)
  • Competency Exam as required by specialty

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • N95 Fit Test (updated annually); only approved masks allowed (e.g., 3M Aura 1870+)
  • Tdap vaccination within 10 years or titer
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB test) within past 12 months
  • Annual TB questionnaire if positive TB history
  • MMR (2 vaccines or positive titers for measles, mumps, rubella)
  • Hepatitis B series and titer or signed declination
  • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season Oct 1 – Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or declination
  • Pneumonia vaccination or declination (if assigned to NY facility)
  • Drug testing (required for NY facilities only)

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport style, plain light background, no logos or hats)
  • Review dress code and telephone usage policies prior to start
  • Complete auto registration form within 48 hours of contract signing
  • Complete COVID testing protocol on Day 1 if required (includes Day 1 test and mask-wearing)
  • Complete EPIC and Cornerstone training modules prior to start (approx. 8 hours, non-billable)
  • Sign Vermont Adult and Child Abuse Registry Consent Form
  • Complete emergency contact form
  • Complete Hepatitis B and Pneumonia vaccination declination forms if applicable
  • Set up NameTag Verification and Workday Information Attestation

Additional Requirements

  • Two professional references from assignments within the last 3 years
  • Employment application and skills checklist within 12 months
  • Verification of 2 years of most recent clinical work history

Travel & Housing Considerations

  • No public transportation access; reliable vehicle strongly recommended
  • Winter tire requirements from November to April

This assignment is ideal for experienced high risk L&D nurses comfortable with night shifts and weekend work in a large academic medical center environment. Strong EPIC skills and compliance with detailed credentialing and health requirements are mandatory.
