Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Worcester, Massachusetts
Position Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Worcester, MA
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Hours: 36 hours per week
- Shift: Night shift starting at 7:00 PM with rare flexibility to start up to 4 hours earlier or later only for urgent staffing needs
Requirements
- Licensure: Massachusetts Registered Nurse license (must have in hand)
- Experience: Minimum 1.5 years nursing experience
- Preferred: EPIC electronic health record experience
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
- Additional Certifications (as applicable):
- NRP, NALS, CHEMO, TNCC, EFM, ENPC, CPI, NIH Stroke Certification, Management of Assaultive Behavior (check specialty requirements)
- Pass/Fail Testing: Medication exam required for all RNs; Telemetry exam required for RNs in telemetry units including Labor & Delivery (one attempt only, minimum 80% score on first day of orientation)
Compliance & Documentation
- Background Checks:
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start (all counties lived/worked)
- National and state-specific checks including iCORI clearance (Massachusetts statewide)
- Education verification (highest completed education)
- Health Documents:
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start (fitness to work without restrictions)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray as required
- Immunizations or declinations for: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu, COVID-19 (seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination required)
- Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
- Other Required Documents:
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID
- Massachusetts Statewide (iCORI) Release (updated annually)
- Employment application with 7 years of employment history and explanation of gaps over 30 days
- Two professional references within the last three years
- Skills checklist updated annually as applicable
Additional Notes
- Candidates declining certain vaccines (COVID-19, MMR, Hepatitis B, TDAP, Varicella, Flu) must provide facility-specific declination forms; some declinations are not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU.
- Color blind testing required for certain specialties (e.g., Dialysis, Medical Lab Tech).
- Shift flexibility is very limited and only used in urgent staffing situations.
This position is ideal for RNs with Massachusetts licensure seeking a 13-week travel contract with night shifts and a well-defined set of certification and compliance requirements.
