Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - CVOR Tech/SA
Location: Akron, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Minimum of 18 months recent permanent CVOR Tech/SA experience prior to travel
- Vascular experience required
- Must work at least every other holiday
- One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required for submission
- ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test must be passed during orientation
Certifications & Competencies
- Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (Instructor or Provider); RQI acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Not required for CVOR
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Preferred but not required
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Not required
- CNOR (Certified Nurse Operating Room) - Preferred but not required for RNFAs
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER; preferred otherwise
- National CVOR Tech Certification (NBSTSA/ACST) - Required
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - Required annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - Required for all bedside RNs except OR; completed onsite during orientation
- Competency Exams:
- Unit-specific competency exam required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Core Parts I, II, III required and must be updated annually
Background & Compliance Checks
- Background check required prior to start, including:
- FCRA compliant 7-year search (SSN trace, counties, states, nationwide)
- National Sex Offender, OFAC, FACIS Level 3, Education Verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required monthly
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting required within 12 months of start and updated annually
- Must be completed within 48 hours of signed contract
- Fingerprints must be done under code 4723.09 (Nursing)
- Facility will conduct their own fingerprinting in addition to agency process
- Education verification required for all candidates
- References:
- 2 references required from employment within one year of start (Manager, ANM, Supervisor, Charge Nurse, or Director)
- For OR Tech First Assistants (CSFA) and RNFAs, 4 references required (3 peer-level, 1 supervisor/physician within 2 years)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (for candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later)
- Fit mask test (3M N95 1860 or 1870+) within 12 months and updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if negative/equivocal
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
- Drug testing: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Eye exam required within 1 year of start for new candidates signing 4/11/2025 or later
Facility Specific Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried on assignment
- Photo for badge required for OR Tech First Assistants (CSFA) and RNFAs (headshot, white background)
- Resume/CV required for CSFAs and RNFAs including 10 years of work history with explanations for gaps
- Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; cannot skip training videos)
- SafeMedicate prep materials provided for review before pass/fail exam during orientation
- Must acknowledge and sign CSFA RNFA Acknowledgement if applicable
Additional Notes
- Candidates may start with fingerprinting results pending as long as fingerprinting is completed prior to start
- Physical exam does not need to be updated annually if currently on assignment without a break
- Candidates with gaps longer than 40 days between assignments may need updated health documents
- Candidates must complete all onboarding modules prior to clearance to start
- Candidates must use legal name in onboarding system; name changes must be reported through proper channels
This position is ideal for experienced CVOR Techs with vascular experience seeking a travel contract in Ohio. Compliance with all certifications, background checks, health requirements, and facility-specific onboarding is mandatory.
