Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Canton, Ohio
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Experience Required: Minimum 18 months recent Med/Surg Telemetry experience
• Licensing: Must have a permanent Ohio nursing license or a compact state license in hand
• Certifications:

  • AHA BLS & ACLS required
  • NIH Stroke Certification must be obtained prior to start
• Electronic Health Record: Must have Epic experience
• References: One recent reference from a manager, ANM, supervisor, or director in the specialty is required for submission
• Testing: ECG rhythm recognition test and SafeMedicate test during orientation; passing scores required
• Holiday Work: Must work at least every other holiday

Required Documentation & Compliance

Background Checks

• Comprehensive background check including FCRA compliant 7-year search
• Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 48 hours of contract signing; results required within 12 months and updated annually
• Fingerprinting must be completed under nursing code 4723.09
• Facility will conduct additional fingerprinting onsite

Certifications

• ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI acceptable)
• BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider, RQI acceptable)
• NIH Stroke Certification (AHA, Apex, AACME, or Bluecloud only)
• Pass/Fail ECG & Medication testing during orientation (SafeMedicate)
• Annual Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
• State License Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start
• NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start

Health Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start, including Snellen eye exam (required for candidates signing after 4/11/2025)
• Fit Mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually
• Immunizations/vaccinations:

  • Tdap every 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with 2 vaccines or positive titers
  • Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
  • Varicella with 2 vaccines or positive titer
  • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (10/31 - 03/31)
• Drug screening: Standard 10-panel drug screen within 12 months, updated annually (instant drug screens not accepted)

Additional Requirements

• Must carry a government-issued photo ID while on assignment
• Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care in a similar specialty
• Annual skills checklist and unit-specific competency exam required
• Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
• Photo for badge required (headshot, shoulders up, white background)
• Must complete facility security access control form prior to start
• Must comply with facility policies on latex allergy notification if applicable

Notes

• Candidates with gaps in employment longer than 40 days may need updated physical, chest X-ray, and eye exam
• Fingerprinting results must be received prior to contract extension
• Candidates can start with fingerprinting results pending if fingerprinting is completed before start date
• Pass/Fail testing and SafeMedicate prep materials provided during orientation
• Return candidates with less than 6 months gap may have some requirements waived (e.g., testing, modules)

This position is ideal for experienced Med/Surg Telemetry RNs licensed in Ohio or compact states, comfortable with night shifts, and able to meet strict compliance and certification requirements.
