Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN)
Facility: Medical Center in Worcester, MA
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Licensure: Massachusetts RN license required
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of PICU experience
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
  • Shift: Day/Night rotation
  • Schedule: Every third weekend and holiday rotation

Required Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only (check specialty-specific requirements)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - for applicable specialties
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - preferred for ER
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - may be required for L&D
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - may be required or completed onsite
  • Medication Exam/Pharmacology Competency Exam - required for all RNs
  • Pass/Fail Testing (Medication and Telemetry Exams) - required with minimum 80% score on first day of orientation
  • NURSYS Verification (RN license verification) - required within 30 days prior to start

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start (annual update required for direct hires)
  • Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification of highest completed education (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)
  • References: 2 references within 3 years of start
  • Employment application covering 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable (2 PPDs or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days)
  • Immunizations or documented immunity/declinations (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, Maternity, NICU):
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Influenza (seasonal vaccine or declination required during flu season)
    • COVID-19 (most recent vaccine or declination required)
  • TB Questionnaire required for all candidates regardless of TB status
  • Color Blind Testing (if applicable to role)

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must pass required medication and telemetry exams on the first day of orientation with a minimum score of 80% to avoid cancellation
  • Some certifications and requirements may vary based on specialty and unit assignment; verify specialty-specific needs
  • Declinations for certain vaccines are not accepted in Pediatrics, Maternity, and NICU units
  • Compliance documents must be current and uploaded with appropriate expiration dates as required
