Description

Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Elizabethtown, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements & Responsibilities

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIH Stroke Certification required prior to assignment
  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Oxygen protocol management
  • Non-invasive airway management
  • Management of drips
  • Peripheral and central line care/management
  • Blood product administration
  • Isolation precautions and PPE use
  • Computerized documentation
  • Nurse to patient ratios typically 1:3-4
  • Participation in rapid response team activation
  • Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience

Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (AHA only)
  • ACLS (AHA only)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (within 1 year of start)
  • State RN license with primary source verification
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs
  • Additional certifications such as PALS, NRP, EFM may be required depending on unit
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification may be required per specialty

Background & Verification Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification matching specialty required (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
  • State-specific abuse registry check for applicable specialties
  • Two professional references required (one for non-clinical roles)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test annually (with approved mask types) or approved respiratory fit test waiver if applicable
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Immunizations or titers required for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Competency & Skills

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color blindness testing prior to start
  • Competency exam required for clinical candidates prior to start
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-clinical)

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Badge photo (shoulders up, solid light background)
  • Compliance with facility flu and COVID policies, including exemption documentation if applicable

This position requires adherence to all listed certifications, background checks, health screenings, and competency validations prior to start.
