Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Vero Beach, Florida
Facility: Large medical center specializing in cath lab interventional and structural procedures

Job Description

  • Work in cath lab performing interventional and structural procedures

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA provider card or RQI; instructor card not accepted; required for all candidates
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA provider card or RQI; instructor card not accepted; required for cath lab and many critical care units (not required for OR)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for ER, Pediatrics, PICU (if applicable)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for Labor & Delivery, NICU, Nursery, Postpartum, Mother Baby units (if applicable)
  • Chemo Certification: Required for Oncology (if applicable)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Required for Labor & Delivery (if applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually for ER, ICU units, Interventional Radiology, MS/Tele, PACU, PCU, Stepdown, Telemetry
  • State License Verification: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs within 30 days of start
  • Tech Certification Verification: National certification required/preferred for applicable tech roles (e.g., Cath Lab Techs, EP Techs)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Florida AHCA Level II fingerprinting clearance required prior to start; must be current and renewed every 5 years
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel plus nicotine test within 1 year of start; no FL Medical Marijuana card acceptance
  • Physical exam within 6 months of start
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually; TB questionnaire required for past positives
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer (exempt if born before 1957)
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines, titer, or history of chickenpox
  • Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
  • COVID-19 vaccination series or approved medical/religious exemption required

Documentation and Onboarding

  • Proof of I9 or attestation
  • Government-issued photo ID required and must be carried during work hours
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation
  • Completion of online training modules prior to start (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome; includes COVID documentation submission)
  • Signed acknowledgment of HIPAA and safety manuals
  • Pass/Fail testing (EKG and Pharmacology) during orientation for RNs/LPNs; 2 attempts allowed per test
  • References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel and acute care positions
  • Employment application required
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
  • Performance evaluation on file if worked with the system over 1 year

Additional Notes

  • Facility issues radiation badges to applicable candidates
  • Fingerprinting and background checks are strictly enforced with specific state-level requirements
  • Candidates must comply with all health and safety documentation and training prior to start
  • Modules and onboarding process may take multiple days and are high priority

This position is ideal for RNs experienced in cath lab procedures who meet the comprehensive certification, background, and health requirements of a major healthcare system in Florida.
