Travel RN - PCU Cardiac Surgery

Location: Denver, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel

Unit Information

Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) - Cardiac Surgery
Floor: 10th
Number of Beds: 20
Staffing:
- Total Staff: 40 (RNs and Patient Care Technicians)
- Day Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Nurses, 3 PCTs
- Night Shift: 1 Charge RN, 5 Nurses, 2 PCTs
Patient Ratios: 1:4
Equipment Used:
- Telemetry
- Transport monitors
- Suction
- Feeding pumps
- Trachs
- BiPAP, CPAP, heated high flow
- Chest tubes
- Foley catheters
- Pacer wires/pacemakers
- IV pumps
- SCD pumps
Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Meditech

Required Skills and Experience

Must Have:
- ACLS certification
- Experience with drips including heparin, tikosin, diltiazem, amiodarone, nitro, Lasix, ketamine
- PCU experience
- Cardiac experience
Preferred:
- Candidates with additional cardiac skills will be prioritized

Typical Procedures Performed

Chest tube placement and removal
Removal of pacer wires
12-lead EKGs

Work Environment and Culture

Fast-paced and challenging cardiac unit
Cardiac center of excellence
High acuity patients
Team-oriented with a preference for high-energy, great team players

Certifications and Licenses Required

ACLS
BLS
NIH Certification
Registered Nurse License
