Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract

Location: Holyoke, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 8 weeks (interpreted as 8 weeks)
Shift: Night shift, primarily 4x12 hour shifts (6:45 PM - 7:15 AM with 30-minute lunch)
Facility open to 36-hour shifts but prefers candidates interested in 48-hour shifts first.

Job Description

• Seeking experienced ER Registered Nurses for travel assignments starting late November / early December (no later start dates accepted).
• Work in a dynamic, full-spectrum Emergency Department serving patients of all ages, including a locked behavioral health unit.
• Fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
• Patient population includes all ages (birth through end of life), predominantly adults, with occasional pediatric patients (Level 1 pediatric trauma center nearby).
• Behavioral health unit with 12-bed locked capacity.

Requirements

• Active Massachusetts RN license or eligible for emergency MA license.
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, CPI, and PALS (all AHA approved).
• Minimum 2 years recent ED RN experience.
• Must have completed at least 1 prior travel assignment.
• If this is your first travel assignment, submit as a “screen” and clearly indicate this status.
• CPI training will be provided onsite.
• TNCC and ENPC certifications are preferred but not required.

Competencies & Testing

• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required before orientation; failure after two attempts may result in contract cancellation.
• Additional EKG test administered at orientation.
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required (minimum 80% score or meet/exceed Angoff score).
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for ED RNs.

Health & Background Requirements

• Current government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID).
• Background checks including SSN trace, county criminal, NSOFACIS, MA statewide iCORI clearance, and others as required by Massachusetts regulations.
• Physical exam within 1 year of start.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity:

  • Tdap
  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or declination (required during flu season: Oct 1 - Apr 30)
  • COVID-19 vaccine or signed declination (including booster)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start.
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 1 year of start.
• TB questionnaire if applicable.

Additional Information

• 2 professional references required for travel, allied, or per diem acute care roles (within 2 years of start).
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing required for all RNs.
• Confidentiality agreement and health requirements must be completed prior to start.
