Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Job Requirements & Skills

• Experience with CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) and IABP (Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) – ER only
• Airway management
• Management of ventilated patients
• Arterial line management (preferred for ER)
• Management of dysrhythmias
• Central line management
• Management of IV drips
• Isolation precautions
• Triage skills (ER/ER Holding only)
• Computerized documentation
• Nurse to patient ratios 1:1 to 1:2+
• NIH Stroke Certification
• Interpretation of ABGs (Arterial Blood Gases)
• Interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Continuous IV sedation
• Titration of IV vasopressors
• Minimum 1.5 years of recent experience
• Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only (ER only)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – AAP only (if applicable)
• EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) (if applicable)
• State Nursing License – Primary source verification required
• NURSYS Verification (for RNs)
• NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 1 year unless otherwise stated)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – as required by specialty

Background & Verification Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check required
• HHS/OIG check required
• Education verification matching specialty (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)
• State-specific abuse registry check (KY State Abuse Registry for Home Health specialties)

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards)
• Fit mask test (annual) with accepted mask types; waiver process available for failed fit tests
• Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
• MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) – 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; declinations not accepted
• Hepatitis B – Surface antibody titer, series, or declination required
• Varicella – 2 vaccines or IgG titer required; declinations not accepted
• Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Competencies & Other Requirements

• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Color blind testing prior to start
• Competency exam required for clinical candidates
• Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry check
• Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually (not required for non-clinical)
• 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical)
• Employment application required

• Badge photo required (shoulders up, solid light background)
• Facility-specific flu and COVID exemption forms must be completed if applicable
• Respiratory fit test waiver process available for failed fit tests with medical or religious reasons
