Job Opportunity: MRI Technologist (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio
Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shift: 3pm - 3am (3 x 12-hour shifts)
- On-call: Some on-call time for STAT orders required
- Holidays: Rotating holidays as needed
- Primary Responsibility: MRI coverage, focusing on STAT or urgent cases
- Secondary Responsibility: Assist CT department when no MRI exams are scheduled
- Daily Caseload: 35-40 cases per day
- Rooms: 3
- Work Settings: Outpatient, inpatient, ER, Level 1 Trauma, Teaching Hospital
- Equipment: Siemens MRI and CT scanners
- Preferred Experience: Inpatient experience and Siemens equipment
- General Skills: IV starts, EKGs, PACS, Contrast administration
- MRI Procedures: Abdomen, Pelvis, Head/Neck, Chest, Spine, Musculoskeletal, Diffusion (Non-Brain), Gradient Echo Imaging, Image Post-Processing, Maximum Intensity Projection (MIP), Multiplanar Reconstruction (MRP), Perfusion, Spin Echo Images, Surface Coils, T-1 and T-2 Weighted Images
- Documentation System: EPIC preferred
Required Certifications
- AART (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ODH (Ohio Department of Health) License
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including FBI and BCI fingerprinting
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring
- Education accreditation verification for nursing candidates (if applicable)
- Fingerprinting must be completed using specific Ohio codes and within 1 year of start
- Pending background check attestation required if fingerprint results are pending
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 MMR vaccines or positive titer)
- Hepatitis B (titer or 3-vaccine series)
- Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoids, cocaine, methadone, methaqualone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (10/1 - 3/31)
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required (at least one from a manager or formal leadership)
- Employment application and skills checklist required
- Unit-specific competency exams, including medication and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams for RNs (if applicable)
- Annual acknowledgment of orientation safety manual, dress code, hand hygiene, ethics, and compliance policies
- Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate required prior to start and updated annually
Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for some on-call and holiday work
- Ability to assist in CT when MRI workload is light is essential
- Facility is a Level 1 Trauma and Teaching Hospital, requiring adaptability to various patient care settings
- Siemens equipment experience preferred
