Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab Tech - RN Days)

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Cath Lab Tech - RN (Day shift)
  • Schedule: 3 shifts of 12 hours (06:45 AM - 07:15 PM), varied days
  • Call: 7 weekday call shifts in a 5-week schedule plus one Saturday call in a 5-week schedule
  • Weekends and call required
  • Guaranteed hours
  • Floating to sister facilities not required
  • Local candidates within 50-mile radius not accepted
  • Pending state license not accepted
  • Return to office restrictions: No more than 6 days

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or Military only; documentation must reflect legal name
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or Military only; documentation must reflect legal name
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or Military only; required for specific units
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, FCCU, NICU units
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Must be updated annually; required for specific units
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for multiple units including Cath Lab and ICUs
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Candidates have 3 attempts to pass with 80% or higher; remediation required after failures

Competency Requirements

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Must be completed via Relias and renewed annually
    • Advanced Dysrhythmia: Required for ER, Peds ER, Psych ER, ICUs, Step Down, Tele, PCU
    • Basic Dysrhythmia: Required for Med Surg, Cath Lab, Special Procedures (IR), PICU, Radiology & EP positions
  • Exam must be updated annually

Background Checks

  • Required within 6 months of start
  • If a background check is on file within 6 months, no new one needed
  • Must include: SSN Trace, 7-year county residence, Nationwide Search, Sex Offender Search
  • International search required if candidate lived or worked outside the US in past 7 years
  • Conviction dispositions within the last year or open/active cases are not permitted

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; must be updated annually
  • Vaccinations and Titers:
    • TDAP (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Pertussis) within last 10 years (no declinations accepted for new hires)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted for new hires)
    • Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
    • Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted for new hires)
  • TB Screening: Negative PPD, Q Gold, or T-Spot within 1 year; chest X-ray if positive PPD (not older than 5 years)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (specific substances listed)
  • Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility-specific forms and deadlines
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but documentation accepted if available

Additional Notes

  • Exemptions for COVID-19 vaccine (medical or religious) must be approved by the facility with specific declination forms and supporting documentation
  • Flu vaccine exemptions require annual resubmission and must meet facility deadlines
  • Candidates should expect orientation on Monday, including meeting with unit representatives and receiving schedules
