Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date: December 15th or 29th preferred
- Availability: Must be available for the first 8 days of assignment
- Call Requirement: None
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Requirement: As needed (no holiday requests; dates may be discussed with manager)
- Float: Will float to Medical-Surgical (MS), ICU, and Emergency Department (ED) waiting to take MS patients as needed
- Patient Ratios: Must be comfortable with 1:6 ratio
- Experience: Minimum 1.5 years MedSurg or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience
- Licensure: Michigan RN License required
- Certifications: BLS (AHA) and NIH Stroke Certification required
- Competencies: Strong post-surgical competencies required

Required Documentation & Compliance
- I-9 and E-Verify: Must be completed on specified forms with legally binding signature
- Government Issued Photo ID: Required
- Background Check: Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including lifetime search from age 18, SSN trace, national criminal and sex offender searches, statewide searches, education verification, and MVR search
- Fingerprinting: Michigan LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (not typically for RN unless specified)
- Education Verification: Copy of highest degree or diploma required
- References: One professional reference from a supervisor or manager required
- Employment Application: Complete with full 7 years work history, no gaps
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually for applicable unit

- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be updated annually)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (Honeywell DC365N95HC) required onsite for certain roles
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (must include pertussis)
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q Gold/Tspot) within 45 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and TB questionnaire required
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
- Immunizations: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer, no exemptions accepted)
- Hepatitis B: Titer, series, or facility declination required
- Drug Testing: 10-panel including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required for candidates starting after November 1
Facility Policies & Additional Requirements
- Review and sign Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start
- Hepatitis B declination form if declining vaccine or titer
- Fit test appointment must be scheduled and completed by start or first day onsite
- Vaccine exemption requests require facility-specific forms and approval
- Dosimetry History Request Form required for Radiology specialties
This position requires a highly skilled RN with strong med-surg and post-surgical competencies, flexibility to float to multiple units, and compliance with extensive documentation and health requirements.
