Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Job Requirements & Responsibilities
- Requires 2 supervisory references, including at least 1 from a supervisor or manager (Charge RN acceptable for one). Peer references are not accepted.
- Preferably close to 2 years of nursing experience.
- Floating is required; must be willing to float to NICU, PICU, ED, stepdown, and medical-surgical units as needed. Assignments will be appropriate to these areas.
- Must hold an Ohio State or Compact RN license.
Certifications Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for NICU RNs; AHA/AAP certification only.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required as applicable.
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) – Required as applicable.
- State License Verification – OH State or Compact RN license verification required within 30 days of start.
- NURSYS Verification – Required for RNs within 30 days of start.
Background & Compliance Checks
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including a 7-year search covering all counties lived or worked.
- Education verification through National Student Clearing House or in-house verification if needed.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
- Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start and must be updated for each new contract.
- Sex offender search, Ohio Nurse Aide Registry, Ohio Inmate Registry, Ohio Medicaid Exemption, and Ohio State Abuse Registry searches required within 30 days of start.
- Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, marijuana, fentanyl, and others. Instant tests accepted.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (no longer requires copy of physical exam; candidates sign Infection Control Policy instead).
- N95 Fit Testing within 1 year of start, updated annually. Specific mask models accepted. Onsite testing allowed if necessary.
- TDAP vaccine within 10 years of start (must be completed after age 11). Tdap titer not accepted in place of vaccine.
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol; TB questionnaire required at start and annually.
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declination or proof of vaccine series/titer accepted)
- Varicella
- Seasonal flu vaccine required October 31 - May 31; medical/religious exemptions accepted with facility-specific documentation.
- COVID-19 vaccines are optional; declinations and medical/religious exemptions accepted.
Additional Documentation & Compliance
- Employment application or resume required.
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually.
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality/IT Use Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Facility-specific documents such as Affiliating Health Record, Infection Control Policy, Fingerprinting Proof of Submission, TB Form, Flu Exemption Policy, and others must be completed as required.
Summary
This travel RN position in Columbus, Ohio requires a flexible nurse willing to float across multiple pediatric and critical care units. Candidates must have appropriate licensure, certifications, and pass extensive background and health screenings. Compliance with facility-specific policies and documentation is mandatory. The contract length is approximately 13 weeks.
