Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Opportunity
Location: Johnson City, Tennessee
Specialty: Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Medicine
Job Details
- Schedule: 36/36 or 36/48 (every other week)
- Call: No call required
- Floating: Floating required
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required
- Traveler Eligibility: Must live within 100 miles of the facility
- Orientation:
- General orientation begins on Sundays
- Sunday orientation includes online computer-based learning (CBLs)
- 16 hours of non-billable orientation required
- Shift Flexibility:
- Hospital may cancel one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
- Additional shifts beyond commitment are overtime and may be flexed based on census/resource needs
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Active participation in nursing student support and clinical education alongside clinical care
Required Certifications & Licenses
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted
- AHA BLS (Basic Life Support) – Required for all patient contact; AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted
- NIH Stroke Certification (verify if required or preferred)
- State Nursing License (Primary Source Verification)
- NURSYS Verification (RN, LPN/LVN, AP)
Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, TNCC for ER candidates).
Background Checks & Compliance
- Background check within 30 days of start covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years; updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
- HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
- Education verification required
- Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required for Aya)
- Drug screening: Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (vaccine or declination)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (2 PPDs within last 12 months or equivalent)
- MMR titers (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) with documentation of boosters if low immunity
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
- Varicella titer or documentation of boosters if low immunity
- Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)
- Respirator fit testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
- Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge must meet specific standards (neutral background, no visible facial piercings/tattoos, etc.)
- Completion of various facility-specific forms including:
- Staff info form (time sensitive)
- Department-specific uniform guidelines
- Dress code review
- Contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement
- Smoking and tobacco use policy review
- Influenza policy review
- Flu exemption request and religious accommodation forms if applicable
- Respirator medical evaluation questionnaire (time sensitive)
- Respiratory medical clearance form
- CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use
Competencies & Exams
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- General competency exam required
- Skills checklist required
References
- Minimum 2 references accepted; 3 preferred
