Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology (IR) Tech
Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina

Position Details
- Shift: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (08:00 AM - 04:30 PM)
- Start Date: ASAP
- Experience Required: Minimum 1 year
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Weekend Shifts: Required
- On-Call: Yes, on-call required
- Local Radius Rule: No locals accepted within 75 miles
- State License: Pending state license accepted but must be obtained prior to starting
- Attendance Policy: More than two missed shifts without reasonable explanation during the 13-week contract may lead to contract review and possible cancellation
Required Certifications
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) - Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA required, RQI acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required as applicable
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required as applicable
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU RNs and RRTs, preferred for Mother Baby/Postpartum
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Preferred for ER
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Preferred for Mother-Baby/Postpartum
- STABLE - Preferred for NICU RNs
- NIH Stroke Certification - Required for MS/Tele, ICU, and ER
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Preferred for ER
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - Required for all candidates
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing - Required for RNs (not required for Allied, CNA, LVN/LPN, or Home Health RNs)
- State License Verification - Primary source verification required
- NURSYS Verification - Required for all RNs
Required Competencies and Testing
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - Required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Competency Exam - Required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Color Blind Testing Online - Required if working in Lab roles (MLT/MLS, Histology Tech, Microbiology Tech)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - Required for RNs; includes Cardiac Arrhythmia and Dosage Calculation tests with two chances to pass
- Moderate Sedation Test - Required for OR, ICU, and Endo; may be required for other units
Licensure and Certification Verification
- National certification and state license requirements vary by role (e.g., ARRT for IR Tech, NBSTSA for CST, ASCP for MLT, NBCOT for OT, NBRC for RRT, etc.)
- Specific facility requirements for certification verification apply, especially for CSTs at Mary Black facility
Background Checks and Verifications
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- South Carolina statewide search required regardless of residence/work history
- Education verification required for all candidates; highest level of education must be verified (associates, bachelors, masters, doctorate)
- High School Diploma/GED verification required for CNAs/LVNs and allied candidates with only certificates
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, updated annually
- TB Test or Chest X-Ray: Negative result within 3 months of start (Qgold or Tspot preferred)
- Vaccinations:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or approved exemption
- Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or declination
- Varicella: 2 vaccines, positive titer, or approved exemption
- Flu Vaccine or Declination (seasonal requirement Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19: Dose 1 and 2 required or declination form
- Drug Testing: Within 60 days of start; 10 panel + Oxycodone + Marijuana
- Respirator Safety Clearance: Required within 1 year if respirator use is needed
Facility Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (headshot on plain background) required
- Facility-specific orientation and documentation will be provided
- On-call policy form required for new and extending RNs in MS/Tele, LTAC MS/Tele, ICU, and ER units
- Pass/fail exams must be passed by second attempt for RN candidates (arrhythmia, drug calculations, modules)
- Epic system testing and survey required for new starts
Additional Notes
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted with initial application; late requests will not be considered
- Attendance and compliance with facility policies are strictly enforced
- References and employment applications are required as part of the credentialing process
