Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Worcester, Massachusetts
Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) experience
  • Massachusetts nursing license required
  • Work schedule includes every other weekend and holidays

Certifications & Competencies Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only, required for ER
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only, required for ER
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – Required for L&D, NICU, Nursery, Mother/Baby
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Preferred for ER
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – Required for all RNs and LPNs
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) – Medication exam required for all RNs and LPNs; Telemetry exam required for RNs in telemetry units including L&D (one attempt only, minimum 80% score)
  • State License Verification – Required within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS Verification – Required within 30 days prior to start
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – Preferred for Psychiatry, not required for ED
  • Additional certifications may be required depending on specialty area (check assignment details)

Background & Compliance Checks

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, including:
    • SSN Trace
    • County searches
    • National criminal search
    • OIG, NSOR, EPLS/GSA/SAM checks if separate from BGC
  • Massachusetts Statewide iCORI clearance required within 30 days prior to start
  • Education verification of highest completed education required (transcript acceptable if verification unavailable)
  • Sex offender search required for subcontractors if separate from BGC
  • Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search required for all candidates in MA (not required for subcontractors)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start, including physician statement of fitness without restrictions
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable (2 PPDs or QuantiFERON/T-Spot within 90 days)
  • TB Questionnaire required for all candidates; additional documentation if positive TB
  • Immunizations or documented immunity required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (3-dose series, reactive titer, or declination with documentation)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (declinations not accepted for Pediatrics, NICU, Maternity)
  • Seasonal vaccinations or declinations required for:
    • Flu (required during flu season 10/1 - 3/31)
    • COVID-19 (most recent vaccination or declination required)

Additional Requirements

  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID
  • 2 professional references within 3 years
  • Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
  • Skills checklist required prior to start and updated annually
  • Compliance with facility-specific declinations for vaccines (MMR, Hepatitis B, TDAP, Varicella) where applicable
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start (specific drug panels required)

Work Environment

  • Facility is a hospital setting with ER focus
  • Schedule includes every other weekend and holiday coverage
