Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Inpatient Dialysis)

Location: Largo, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Inpatient Dialysis RN (Float position)
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year dialysis experience required; first-time travelers with strong dialysis experience considered
  • Start Date: December 15, 2025
  • Unit: Small inpatient dialysis unit (6 beds total: 4 non-isolation, 2 isolation)
  • Modalities: Hemodialysis (HD) and Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) (manual-gravity PD exchanges, non-cycler)
  • Floating: RN will float to ICU, IMC, SDU/Tele, MS/Tele, Medical/Surgical, and ER units performing HD with portable dialyzer or PD exchanges
  • Average Daily Census: 15-20 HD patients, 2-3 PD patients
  • Common Diagnoses: Acute Renal Failure (ARF), Acute Kidney Injury (AKI), End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD), Intermittent dialysis
  • Procedures: Inpatient hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis
  • Equipment: In-suite and portable dialyzers

Schedule & Requirements

  • Weekends: Every other weekend required
  • On-call: Required; shifts scheduled Monday-Saturday 7:30 PM - 8:00 AM and Sunday 7:30 AM - 8:00 PM & 7:30 PM - 8:00 AM
  • On-call frequency: Typically 4-6 shifts per month
  • Floating within hospital units as described

Licenses & Certifications Required

  • Maryland RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred
  • CDN (Certified Dialysis Nurse) preferred

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • I9 or Attestation
  • Government Issued Photo ID
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Background Check: 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
  • Education Verification for highest level of education
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Photo for badge (passport style, solid white/beige background)
  • Signed job description prior to start
  • Badge application within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Confidentiality Agreement signed prior to start
  • Dress Code review prior to start
  • Latex Allergy Questionnaire completed by all candidates
  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
  • Fit Mask test within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
    • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
    • TB Questionnaire if positive TB result
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer or declination (series not accepted)
  • Drug Testing: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Seasonal Vaccinations (2025-26):
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 2, 2025
    • COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking

Competency Requirements

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (score 80%+)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
  • Competency Exam (score 80%+)
  • Age Specific Competency Exam (score 80%+)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (score 80%+)

References & History

  • Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (charge RNs, supervisors, or managers)
  • Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
  • Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)

This position offers a dynamic float role within a hospital setting, requiring strong dialysis skills and flexibility to work across multiple units. Candidates must meet all licensure, certification, and compliance requirements prior to start.
