Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT - Nights)

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • Shift: Nights
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: Not required
  • Floating: Required within scope to meet facility needs; may float between like units
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
  • Pending License: Not accepted
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: Per manager's discretion
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; after that, contracted shifts are guaranteed
  • Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning

Job Requirements

  • Must be comfortable working with both adults and children in ICU
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays required
  • Floating as needed
  • Makeup shifts required for any callouts on scheduled shifts
  • Only 4 days allowed off for RTO and no holidays off

Certifications & Competencies Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or Military only; documentation must reflect legal name
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or Military only; documentation must reflect legal name
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): AHA or Military only; required for ED, OR, Peds ED, PICU, and certain other units
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for L&D, FCCU, NICU
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Must be updated annually; required for ED, Psych ED, ICUs, Step Down, Med Surg, L&D, Express Care
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for multiple units including all ICUs, Cath Lab, Med Surg, Tele, PCU, Peds, Radiology, Special Procedures, Step Down, Tele; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with remediation required after failures
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Must be completed via Relias and renewed annually; advanced and basic levels required depending on unit

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Background check required within 6 months of start (SSN Trace, 7-year county residence, Nationwide Search, Sex Offender Search, International Search if applicable)
  • Education verification or diploma/transcript required
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel within 30 days (includes amphetamines, methamphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cocaine, methadone, opiates, PCP, propoxyphene, marijuana)
  • Physical exam within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination)
    • Varicella
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (PPD, Q Gold, or Tspot)
  • Flu vaccine required year-round or signed acknowledgment form with approved medical/religious exemption (exemptions must be resubmitted annually)
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required but accepted if available

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Professional, passport-style photo required for badge (no large earrings, face jewelry, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless for religious reasons)
  • Completion of various facility forms prior to start, including:
    • Agency Personnel Form
    • Emergency Contact Form
    • Confidentiality and Information Agreement
    • Patient Identification Agreement
    • Conflict of Interest Questionnaire
    • Staff Call Out Acknowledgement
    • Corporate Code of Conduct Acknowledgement
    • Policy Tech Access Acknowledgement
    • Professional Appearance Acknowledgment
    • Parking Registration (if driving)
    • Computer Use Acknowledgement
  • Completion of mandatory orientation modules prior to start
  • Review and sign job description specific to Respiratory Therapist role
  • Annual TB screening and flu policy compliance

Additional Notes

  • Must be comfortable working with both pediatric and adult patients
  • Orientation typically occurs on Monday and may last most of the day
  • Parking instructions and reporting details provided during orientation
