Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT - Nights)

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Night Shift
  • Experience Required: Minimum 2 years
  • Schedule: Nights, weekends/holidays required; weekend shifts every other weekend
  • Floating: Required to float within scope to meet facility needs, including between like units
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
  • On-call: Not required
  • Return to Office (RTO): Limited to 4 days off and no holidays; call-off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment, after which all contracted hours are guaranteed
  • Patient Population: Must be comfortable working with both adults and children in ICU settings
  • Facility Type: Short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 733
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Color: Solid Black or Black and White

Special Requirements & Policies

  • Return Staff Policy: Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
  • Contract Limit: Maximum of 2 contracts (can extend once), then must be gone for 6 months before returning
  • Makeup Shifts: Required for any call-offs deemed necessary by the department

Certifications & Competencies Required

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or Military only; documentation must reflect legal name
  • BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or Military only; documentation must reflect legal name
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for relevant units; AHA or Military only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for specific units; documentation must reflect legal name
  • NIH Stroke Certification: Must be updated annually; documentation must reflect legal name
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for awareness in multiple units; candidates have 3 attempts to pass with remediation required after failures
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Must be completed via Relias and renewed annually; minimum 80% score required
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for multiple units as of 7/25/25

Background & Health Requirements

  • Background Check: Required within 6 months of start; includes SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search, and international search if applicable
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C; must be updated annually
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days required (specific substances listed)
  • Immunizations & Titers:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Measles (Rubeola) - titer or 2 vaccines
    • Mumps - titer or 2 vaccines
    • Rubella - titer or 2 vaccines
    • Varicella - titer or 2 vaccines
    • Hepatitis B - vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
  • TB Screening: Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start; annual renewal required
  • Flu Vaccination: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions accepted with facility-specific forms and deadlines
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but accepted if available

  • TB Screening Form
  • Photo for Badge (passport-style, professional, no large earrings, face jewelry, unnatural hair colors, or head coverings unless religious)
  • Modules completed through Workday prior to start (due Monday before start)

Additional Notes

  • Must be comfortable working with both pediatric and adult ICU patients
  • Floating between units as needed within scope
  • Limited Return to Office days and no holidays off
  • Strict pass/fail competency testing with remediation and cancellation policies
  • Facility uses Epic for charting
  • Scrub colors are solid black or black and white

This position offers an opportunity to work in a large, Level III Trauma Center with a diverse patient population requiring flexibility and strong clinical competencies in respiratory therapy.
