Work Schedule

• Shift: 06:00 AM - 06:30 PM
• No call required
• Hospital may cancel or call off one shift biweekly without penalty due to census changes
• Additional overtime shifts may be flexed as needed without penalty

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of experience
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification required
• AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Department does not accept first-time travelers
• Traveler must live within 100 miles of the facility

Orientation

• General orientation begins on Mondays
• Monday orientation includes online computer-based learning (CBLs)
• 16 hours of non-billable orientation required

Responsibilities

• Provide clinical care in respiratory/neuro diagnostics
• Actively participate in student support and clinical education alongside clinical duties

Background Checks & Compliance

• Background check within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
• Education verification required
• Tennessee Adult Abuse Registry check required if licensed/certified in TN or working in TN

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted)
• BLS (AHA Instructor or Provider; RQI accepted)
• PALS and NRP certifications may be required depending on unit (NRP highly preferred for ER)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) highly preferred for ER candidates
• National certification verification as applicable
• Annual orientation safety manual acknowledgement
• State license primary source verification
• NURSYS verification required
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Competency exam required

Facility-Specific Requirements

• Photo for badge (must meet specific standards) within 48 hours of contract signing
• Completion of staff info form within 24 hours of contract signing
• Review and comply with department-specific uniform guidelines and dress code
• Complete contaminated sharps and body fluid exposure statement
• Review smoking and tobacco use policy
• Review influenza policy and complete flu exemption requests if applicable
• Complete respirator medical evaluation questionnaire within 48 hours of contract signing
• Complete respiratory medical clearance form
• Review CDC facial hair guidelines for respirator use

Health Documents & Immunizations

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required annually)
• Respiratory fit mask testing completed onsite (previous fit tests from non-facility sources not accepted)
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine or declination
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
• MMR titers (Rubeola, Mumps, Rubella) or documentation of vaccination/boosters
• Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
• Varicella titer or documentation of vaccination/boosters
• Standard 9-panel drug screen within 14 days of start
• Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Sept 29 – Mar 31)
