Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights
  • Scrub Color: Navy Blue
  • Weekend coverage: Required
  • Licensure: Must have an active Tennessee license or multistate license
  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • CPI/MAB (Crisis Prevention Institute / Management of Assaultive Behavior)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
    • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Preferred Certification: TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Licensure & Certifications

  • Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start; license cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required for all licenses
  • Certifications must be current and cannot expire within 30 days of start
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, CPI/MAB, NIH Stroke Certification, TNCC, ENPC, NRP, EFM, STABLE, and other specialty certifications as applicable
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue or equivalent required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or equivalent required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, Behavioral Health

Background Checks

  • 7-year background check within 12 months of start required
  • Includes SS trace, all aliases, state and county searches for all states/counties lived or worked in last 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, OFAC Sanctions List searches required within 30 days of start and every 30 days thereafter
  • Fingerprinting required if applicable (e.g., WV residency/work in last 7 years)
  • Background checks must be updated annually or if there is a gap of 30+ days between contracts

Health & Immunization Documents

  • Physical exam within 1 year attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Negative TB test (True 2-step PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or Tspot) within 90 days of start
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination)
    • Varicella
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years for high-risk areas
  • Drug screening within 1 year and updated annually (5-panel minimum)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by deadlines

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Badge photo with specific background and quality requirements
  • Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment (approx. 12 hours)
  • Pass/fail testing (medication and arrhythmia exams) required prior to start with two attempts allowed
  • Floating policy acknowledgment required
  • Compliance checklist to be completed by agency

Orientation & Training

  • 16 hours of non-billable orientation onsite separate from online modules
  • Online modules replace traditional 9-day didactic orientation, allowing for targeted clinical precepted orientation
  • Candidates must complete all required testing and modules before clearance to start

Additional Notes

  • Respirator fit testing (N95) completed onsite during orientation
  • Some certifications (e.g., NRP, TNCC, ENPC) may require registration and have associated costs
  • Candidates must carry a valid driver's license on duty for computer access setup
  • All documentation must be verifiable with clinic/facility information included
  • Candidates with gaps of 30+ days between contracts may require updated physicals and background checks

This position is ideal for RNs with night shift availability, required certifications, and willingness to cover weekends in a hospital setting in Tennessee.
