Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Unit

Location: Petoskey, Michigan
Employment Type: Temporary Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit Overview

• 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit (Level 2 North)
• Diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke care
• Fast-paced, challenging environment with strong learning opportunities for both new graduates and experienced nurses

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with healthcare team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on comprehensive patient assessments
• Provide evidence-based, holistic nursing care aligned with Clinical Practice Model and Caring-Quality Model
• Demonstrate leadership by sharing knowledge, serving as a clinical resource, and modeling professional behavior
• Communicate effectively using SBAR and interdisciplinary methods
• Manage time efficiently and assist team members to enhance overall team performance
• Perform other duties as assigned consistent with competency-based objectives

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience (required)
• Michigan RN license verification required (LARA and Nursys)
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application required for RN specialties
• Travel highly preferred
• Full-time employees of the facility are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment
• Agencies must verify understanding of assigned shift as posted due to high volume of applicants

Attendance Policy

• Strict 3-strike attendance policy effective 6/1/2024:

  • Termination after 3 absences or being more than 20 minutes late for scheduled shifts
  • Exceptions considered for communicable disease or hospitalization with supporting evidence
