MedSurg RN Travel Assignment - Northern New Hampshire

Location: Colebrook, New Hampshire
Specialty: MedSurg RN (Medical/Surgical and Telemetry)
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (typically 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
Bed Count: 12 beds

Job Requirements & Qualifications

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required
• PALS preferred
• Strong IV skills preferred (no dedicated IV team; provider places PICC lines during the day)
• Ability to read and interpret cardiac strips (no tech support; may be assisted by ED nurse)
• Ability to titrate drips including pressors, heparin, nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin
• No ventilator management on the unit (BIPAP and treatments done by nurses; ER nurse is a resource)
• Must be flexible and willing to adjust schedule as needed
• Teamwork and strong communication skills essential

Unit & Patient Information

• Patient types: CHF, COPD, pneumonia, cardiac arrhythmias, sepsis
• Mostly medical patients; surgical patients typically transferred out (surgeon available 2 days/week)
• Low-level ICU care with pressors until transfer
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-6
• Charge RN role available depending on census; typically does not take patients and assists ER as needed
• Nurses aides available each shift
• Central telemetry monitoring with tele packs

Work Environment & Support

• No respiratory therapist on unit; nurses perform respiratory treatments
• ER staffed 24/7; hospitalist on call 7 days/week, can return to hospital if needed
• Pharmacist available until 3 PM; telepharmacy on call after hours
• May be required to mix medications after hours if new orders come in
• Orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor
• Float opportunities within the facility depending on position and qualifications
• Weekend requirement: every 3rd weekend (may be more frequent as needed)
• Holiday shifts rotate with permanent staff
• Dress code: Any color scrubs acceptable as long as professional and appropriate
