Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Dubois, Pennsylvania
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shifts: Rotating shifts between 07:00-19:30, 11:00-23:30, and 19:00-07:30
• Schedule: Every other weekend
• Unit: Emergency Department (ED) – no floating to other units
• Electronic Health Record: Cerner
• Travel Radius: No local candidates within 75 miles
• Licensure: Must have Pennsylvania or compact nursing license in hand
• Experience: Trauma experience preferred

Required Certifications

• CPR
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NIH Stroke Certification (annual renewal required)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Competencies

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must meet passing score)
• Competency Exam (as applicable)

Required Background Checks and Verifications

• 7-year criminal background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender, and PA statewide (Patch Certificate)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check
• HHS/OIG check
• Education verification (transcripts, diplomas, or 3rd party verification)
• NURSYS verification for RN license
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search (Childline) within 1 year of start
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services Fingerprint results (FBI fingerprinting within 12 months of start)

Required Health Documents and Vaccinations

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Negative TB test (PPD, Q Gold, or TSpot) within 6 months or chest X-ray within 5 years
• Tdap vaccination within the past 10 years (declinations accepted with form)
• Immunizations or declinations for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella
• Flu vaccine or declination (mask required if declining during flu season)
• COVID vaccine or declination
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Alcohol breathalyzer test (not required for this location)

Additional Requirements

• Photo for badge (passport style, no filters)
• Completion of facility-specific orientation packet and acknowledgements prior to start
• Completion of bloodborne pathogen quiz prior to start
• Annual certifications required for:

  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) for ED, Behavioral Health, and Acute Care units
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCM) certification acceptable as MAB/CPI equivalent
• Two professional references within 3 years of hire
• Annual skills checklist

Notes

• Rotations typically change every 4-6 weeks
• No floating to other units for ED nurses
• Online training accepted for MAB/CPI certifications; no onsite classes available
• All certifications and background checks must be current and on file prior to start

This position is ideal for RNs with emergency and trauma experience who hold the required certifications and licensure, and who are comfortable with rotating shifts and travel assignments in Pennsylvania.
