Description

Registered Nurse (MedSurg) - Oncology Floor

Location: Thomasville, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Unit: Oncology Floor (MedSurg RN, Every Other Week schedule)
  • Start Date: Approximately 3 weeks from offer
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks with possible extension
  • Schedule:
    • Every Other Week (EOW)
    • Preferred shifts: 3x12 hour shifts, will consider 4x12 hour shifts
    • Block scheduling considered
  • Patient Ratio: 1:6 or 1:7 (experience with higher ratios required)
  • Required Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • Required Skills:
    • Telemetry
    • IV Start
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year recent MedSurg experience
    • Oncology experience highly preferred
    • Previous travel experience preferred
  • EMR Systems: Cerner & Soarian
  • Dress Code: Royal Blue scrubs required (not provided)
  • Local candidates: Must be 31-50 miles from facility (under 30 miles not considered)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Identification:
    • Proof of I9 or attestation
    • Color copy of government-issued photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
    • Must include SSN trace, counties, national sex offender, FACIS Level 3, nationwide check
    • Education verification required for all candidates
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Fingerprinting:
    • Georgia GCHEXS fingerprint results required for CNAs (tracking only for RNs)
    • Fingerprinting appointment must be completed promptly; 30-day grace period for results
  • Education:
    • Proof of RN education (diploma or transcript accepted)
    • Third-party education verification required
  • References:
    • Two recent supervisor/manager level references verified within 12 months
  • Performance Evaluations:
    • Required if worked with the facility/system over 1 year
  • Skills & Competency Exams:
    • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam (updated annually)
    • Core competency exams (Parts I, II, III) updated annually

Certifications (as applicable)

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - May be required depending on unit
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Not required for this role
  • Other certifications (NRP, TNCC, NIH Stroke, etc.) - Not required for this position

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test completed onsite at no cost
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • TB testing: QGold or TSPOT within 30 days of start (no PPDs accepted)
  • TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination accepted)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (9/3 - 3/31) unless approved medical/religious exemption
  • COVID-19 vaccine not required but proof of vaccination, exemption, or declination must be collected

Facility Specific Requirements

  • Completion of assigned HealthStream modules prior to first day
  • Submission of a passport-style photo for badge within 24 hours of signing
  • Compliance with facility dress code (royal blue scrubs)
  • Completion of facility-specific forms (IS115, IS119) with wet or DocuSign signatures
  • Flu exemption forms if applicable

Additional Notes

  • Minimal to no Return to Origin (RTO) allowed; must be included on submission
  • Candidates must carry photo ID during hours of service
  • Previous travel experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Must be willing to comply with all facility-specific onboarding and compliance requirements

This position is ideal for experienced MedSurg RNs with oncology experience who are comfortable with higher patient ratios and block scheduling on a travel contract basis.
