Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel Position

Location: Portland, Maine
Employment Type: Travel Contract
Contract Length: 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)


Position Details

  • Specialty: Respiratory Therapy (RRT)
  • Shift: 7 PM - 7 AM
  • Weekly Guaranteed Hours: 36
  • Weekend Hours: 36 to 48 hours (unless otherwise noted)
  • Call Requirements: Yes, 2 hours for the oncoming shift
  • Float Requirements: Must float as RRT with some NICU/PICU, acute care pediatrics, ED, adult acute and critical care

Experience Requirements

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 3+ years in Respiratory Therapy (higher value between 2 and 3 years)
  • Must Have Experience: Tertiary, teaching hospital experience; Level 1 trauma center experience
  • Preferred Experience: NICU/PICU and Cardiothoracic experience
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required

Education & Certifications

  • Required Certifications:
    • RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) for NICU

Unit Information

  • Number of Beds: Varies depending on daily assignments; coverage across entire facility with a team of 14-16 RRTs
  • Patient Ratios:
    • Acute care: 1:25
    • Critical care: 1:8
  • Equipment Used:
    • Drager V500 and VN500 ventilators
    • Hamilton T1 and C1 ventilators
    • Respironics V30, V60, Trilogy line
    • Airvo and Vapotherm devices
  • EMR System: EPIC

  • Personality Fit: Flexible, team player, excellent communication skills
  • Dress Code: Scrubs provided or flexible
  • Type of Patients: Varied patient population including acute, critical, pediatric, and adult care

This position is ideal for experienced RRTs comfortable working in a fast-paced, tertiary teaching hospital environment with diverse patient populations and advanced respiratory equipment.
