Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (Travel/Contract)
Location: Westerly, Rhode Island
Facility: Hospital within Yale New Haven Health system
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 24 weeks (interpreted as weeks)
Schedule:
- 40 hours per week
- Mix of 8 and 12-hour shifts (days and evenings)
- At least every other weekend and some holidays, depending on department needs
Job Requirements
- Must hold Rhode Island and Connecticut licenses (required to float to sister campus)
- Minimum 2 years of experience required
- Strong Emergency Department (ED) infant ventilator experience required (NICU experience not needed)
- Will not accept first-time travelers
- BLS certification required
- Navy blue scrubs required
- Free parking available
Certifications & Competencies
Required Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU (not required here)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required for ER at Yale campuses; not required at this facility
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for Psychiatry/Behavioral Health; preferred for ER
- State Licenses: Rhode Island and Connecticut licenses required; must apply for both if not held
- NURSYS Verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days of start
- NIH Stroke Certification - Required for most RNs except certain specialties (e.g., NICU, Pediatrics)
- Tech Cert Verification (if applicable)
Competency Exams:
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (85% passing score)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024, 80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, ICU units)
Background & Verification Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification of highest level required; foreign equivalency reports required for internationally educated RNs
- Employment application with 7-year work history, no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain tech roles (not specified here)
Health & Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation (within 6-12 months)
- Tdap vaccination required within 10 years of start (declinations not accepted)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or declination within 1 year)
- Varicella (positive titer, vaccines, or documented history)
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID vaccination series preferred
