Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract) - CVICU
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Specialty: Registered Nurse
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Unit Details
- 42-bed Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) specializing in open heart surgery
- Average 6-8 bypass pump surgical cases per day
- Post-surgical care for heart transplants and LVAD patients
- Requires immediate post open heart surgical admission experience
- Experience with Swan Ganz catheters, manual thermodilution syringe for Cardiac Index calculation, and epicardial/transvenous pacing wires
- Common diagnoses: Advanced Heart Failure, Multi-vessel Disease, Coronary Artery Disease, Pulmonary Hypertension, Valvular Heart Disease
- Common bedside procedures: bronchoscopies, intubations, tracheostomies, central line insertions, arterial line and Swan Ganz catheter insertions
Schedule
- Weekend: Every other weekend
- Call: None
- Floating: Within facility/scope of practice as needed
Experience Requirements
- Minimum 2 years CVICU experience (prior to travel) - travel experience does not count
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
Orientation & Compliance
- Orientation hours depend on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours orientation)
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays result in 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year's Eve/Day)
Required Certifications & Verifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): Required for CVICU
- BLS (Basic Life Support): Required
- State License: Georgia RN license verification within 30 days prior to start
- NURSYS Verification: Annual verification within 30 days prior to start
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required for RNs by Aya
- Color Blind Testing: Required for all candidates; alternative assessment available if needed
- Competency Exams: Including Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed)
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days of start, including education verification
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; cannot start with results pending
- Physical Exam: Required by Aya within 1 year of start
- TB Testing: PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; if positive, negative chest x-ray within 6 months and TB questionnaire required
- Immunizations:
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer
- Hepatitis B: Series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination (declination required if titer negative)
- Flu Vaccine or Declination required (seasonal)
Additional Requirements
- Skills checklist updated within 12 months
- Verification of most recent employer required (can be pending with proof running)
- Two clinical references required by Aya (not client)
- Review and sign facility-specific Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance policies prior to start
