Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Newnan, Georgia
Facility: Hospital within Piedmont Healthcare system


Job Details

  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract Length: 20 weeks
  • Unit Details:
    • Weekend Schedule: Every other weekend
    • Call: None
    • Floating: Within facility and scope of practice as needed
  • Minimum Experience: 1 year (first-time travelers accepted)
  • Holiday Work:
    • If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, traveler expected to work it
    • If 2 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work both
    • If 3 major holidays fall, traveler expected to work 2 of them
  • Major Holidays Include:
    Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day
  • Orientation:
    • Full compliance required to start on time
    • Push back of 2 weeks if not compliant due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
    • Number of non-billable orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
  • Locals accepted at same rate

Required Credentials & Compliance

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Background check required within 30 days of start, including:
    • County and national criminal searches
    • Sex offender registry
    • Education verification (degree related to application)
  • Diplomas required for Respiratory Therapists (RRTs)
  • Education verification can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
  • Work history verification of most recent employer required (can be pending at start with proof)
  • Two clinical references required

Licenses & Certifications

  • State License: Must be valid and verified within 30 days prior to start (Georgia license required for CRTs & RRTs)
  • NURSYS Verification: Annual verification for RN, LPN/LVN, AP within 30 days prior to start
  • ACLS: Required for RNs in ER, PACU, Pre-op, Endo, CSU, Critical Care, CVICU, Cardiac Tele/Step-down, PCU, IMCU, Labor & Delivery, RRT, CVOR, and CRT. CRTs must obtain within 30 days of hire.
  • BLS: Required except for Microbiology Techs and Med Techs
  • PALS: Required for RNs in PACU/Pre-op/Endo/CSU (if pediatric patients accepted), ER
  • NRP: Required as per specialty
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring): Online course required within a few months of hire; no re-certification required
  • Tech Cert Verification: Allied annual license verification if applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification: As required by specialty
  • Other Certifications: As specified by clinical track or specialty

Competency Exams

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (required for RNs and LVNs by Aya only)
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates; alternative assessment available for blood collection tasks)
  • Competency Exam (required for Nursing and Allied by Aya only)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Tele, MS/Tele, IMCU, ER, Cardiac tele/step-down, ICU, PCU) with up to 3 attempts allowed

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required by Aya within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 12 months; if positive history, negative chest x-ray within 6 months required
  • TB Questionnaire: Required annually for all candidates
  • Immunizations:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer; boosters allowed post-start if eligible
    • Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer; boosters allowed post-start if eligible
    • Hepatitis B: Series, surface antibody titer, or signed declination
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; instant drug screen acceptable under certain conditions; cannot start with results pending
  • Flu Vaccination: Required or declination during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31); documentation must be uploaded during orientation

Facility Policies & Documents

  • Candidate must review and sign Code of Conduct and Acknowledgement prior to start
  • Must review Dress and Professional Appearance Policy
  • Delineation of Privileges document required only for CVOR Certified Surgical First Assistant and RNFA specialties

Additional Notes

  • Manager reviews candidate profile within 48 hours after confirmation to determine fit
  • Maximum Return to Orientation (RTO) time is 7 days
  • Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to avoid assignment delays

This position offers an opportunity for registered nurses with at least 1 year of experience to work a travel contract in a hospital setting with a structured orientation and compliance process. The role requires flexibility for weekend shifts every other weekend and holiday coverage as specified.
