Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) - Travel/Contract

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Facility Type: Short Term Acute Care Hospital
Staffed Beds: 285
Shift: Monday to Friday, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (5x8), some occasional weekends and holidays required
Cases per Day: Approximately 14
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 1 year required
• First-timers: Accepted
• Weekend Requirement: Some weekends required
• Certifications Required:

  • PTA License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: No floating outside scope of practice
• Local Candidates: Accepted within 75 miles radius
• Pending License: Accepted

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

Licenses & Certifications

• Professional license primary source verification required (Missouri licenses verified via NURSYS)
• BLS certification (AHA only)
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, CPI, MAB) – check unit-specific requirements
• IV Certification required for LPN/LVNs in Missouri (not applicable for PTA)
• Background checks including criminal, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches
• Education verification of highest related degree required
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel of substances
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and health screenings including:

  • Tdap (or declination)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray (with yearly questionnaire)
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
• HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, fingernail, and dress code policies must be reviewed and signed prior to start
• Facility-specific orientation modules required (approx. 16 hours, completed prior to start)

Background Checks & State-Specific Requirements

• Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
• Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab assignments (not applicable here)
• Missouri Family Care Safety Registry (FCSR) results required for certain positions
• Missouri EDL and Highway Patrol checks required and must be renewed quarterly/annually
• Illinois state exclusion list and abuse registry checks as applicable
