Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - Travel/Contract
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan

Job Description
- Must be able to proficiently harvest vein endoscopically
- CVOR (Cardiovascular Operating Room) experience required
- Start date desired: December 15th or 29th
- Shift options: 8 days on/40 hours per week or 10 days on/40 hours per week
- Hours: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM or 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week
- Call requirement: 12-18 days per month
- Weekend requirement: 2-3 weekends per month
- Will accept STFA (Surgical Technologist First Assistant) or RNFA (Registered Nurse First Assistant)
- 5 years of experience strongly preferred
- Previous travel experience strongly preferred
- Float requirement: General department First Assistant coverage including ortho, vascular, gyn, thoracic, and general surgeries when cardiac is not applicable
- Minimum 1+ year experience required
Required Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - if working in Pediatrics or ED
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - if working in Pediatrics
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - required for ED
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - as applicable
- National Tech Certification for Surgical Techs preferred
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - required
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - completed within 1 year prior to assignment with passing score of 80%+
- Competency Exam in specialty - completed within 1 year prior to assignment with passing score of 80%+
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - as applicable
- Color Blind Testing - required for laboratory setting only
Required Documentation & Background Checks
- I-9 form and E-Verify attestation required
- Government issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Criminal background check within 45 days of start, including:
- SSN Trace
- National Criminal Search
- National Sex Offender Search
- Statewide searches
- Education Verification
- Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) search for Home Health
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- MI LARA fingerprinting required within 45 days of start for certain positions (not typically required for this role unless specified)
- Education verification: Highest degree or diploma required
- State-specific Central Registry Clearance required for pediatric and certain specialty placements
- Employment application/resume with full 7 years work history, no gaps
- One professional reference from supervisor/manager required
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask test (Honeywell DC365N95HC) required if applicable
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (must include pertussis)
- Negative TB test (PPD or Q Gold/Tspot) within 45 days of start
- TB Questionnaire updated annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- Hepatitis B - titer, series, or facility declination required
- Varicella - 2 vaccines or positive titer required
- 10-panel drug test including Marijuana/THC within 45 days of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required for candidates starting after November 1
Facility Specific Requirements
- Review and sign Code of Conduct and Appearance Standards Policy prior to start
- Vaccine exemption forms required if applicable (medical or confidential vaccine exemptions)
- Dosimetry History Request Form required for Radiology specialties (not applicable here)
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared to float to other surgical specialties as needed
- Previous travel experience is strongly preferred
- This position requires strong proficiency in vein harvesting endoscopically and CVOR experience
