Position Details

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 108
• Patient Ratios: 1:1 to 1:4
• Staffing: RNs, LVNs, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nurse Externs
• Equipment Used:

  • Nasal Cannula
  • Bubble CPAP
  • Ventilators
  • Oscillators
  • IV Pumps
  • NIRS (Near-Infrared Spectroscopy)
  • Warmers
  • Isolettes
• Documentation Systems: CPN, Meditech
• Scheduling:

  • 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
  • Rotating weekends and holidays
• Floating Policy: Contract staff float before permanent staff; float areas include PICU, Pediatrics, CICU caring for patients under 2 years old
• Patient Experience Requirement: Minimum 1 year of Level III NICU experience

Required Skills and Experience

• Experience with surgical and cardiac patients
• Experience caring for patients less than 27 weeks gestation
• Care of tracheostomy infants
• Experience managing Broviac lines
• Experience with preemies at least 28 weeks gestation and above
• Management of central lines
• Respiratory management including care of intubated patients

Advanced Skills / Procedures Performed on Unit

• Central line insertions
• Circumcisions
• Exploratory laparotomies
• Gastroschisis reductions
• PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) ligations

Certifications Required

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Dress Code

• Royal blue scrubs required
