Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Maryville, Tennessee
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Requirements
- Must have active RN license in Tennessee
- Must have BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Certification
- Must have Medical-Surgical/Telemetry experience
- Floating to other units required based on skill set
- Weekend coverage required
Certifications & Training Requirements
- BLS (Basic Life Support): AHA or ARC only, valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support): AHA or ARC only, valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NIH Stroke Certification: Required annually; must be valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support): Required for pediatric units, ER, and PACU; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program): Required for NICU and Pediatrics; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course): Required for ER/ED and Pediatric ER; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course): Required for ER and Pediatric ER; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute): Required for ER/ED, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs; valid and cannot expire within 30 days of start
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM): Required as applicable (AWHONN)
- Tech Certification (National): Must be current and valid
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: HIPAA form required, expires annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication): Required for all RN candidates; must pass with a minimum score of 84%
- State License Verification: Primary source verification required within 30 days of start; license cannot expire within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification: Required for RN, LPN/LVN, AP licenses within 30 days of start
Competency & Compliance
- Annual completion of Core Parts I, II, and III training with a minimum passing score of 80%
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required annually
- Color Blind Testing required for nurses assigned to Emergency Department and Pediatric ER
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and fingerprinting as applicable
- Drug screening within 1 year of start, updated annually (5-panel minimum)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (if working/floating in high-risk areas)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 90 days of start
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Vaccination series, positive titer, or signed declination
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required (not for remote workers)
Orientation & Facility Policies
- Completion of online Cornerstone modules within 72 hours of assignment; required before start
- Floating policy must be signed and renewed annually
- Badge photo required prior to start (passport-style with specific background and no obstructions)
- Compliance checklist must be completed and all required documents submitted before start
- Fit mask (N95) respirator fit test completed onsite during orientation
Additional Notes
- Candidates must carry a valid driver’s license for computer access setup
- Background checks and verifications must be current and compliant with facility standards
- Candidates may be required to float to other units based on skill set
- Weekend coverage is mandatory
This position offers a 13-week travel contract for experienced RNs with Medical-Surgical/Telemetry skills, requiring multiple certifications and compliance with strict health and safety standards.
