Job Opportunity: Surgical Services - Cardiac Scrub Tech
Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Start Date Options: January 5 or January 12
- Specialty: Cardiac scrub tech (CV Scrub) skillset required
- Experience: Minimum 2 years required; first-time travelers not accepted
- Patient Population: Adult cardiac surgery patients, vascular and thoracic cases, complex and high acuity
- Call Requirements: Weekend and weeknight call required
- Float: As needed within scope
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only, no certificates of completion accepted
- CST (Certified Surgical Technologist)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only, no RQI or certificates of completion accepted
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable, AHA only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - as applicable, AHA only
- State License verification and NURSYS verification (for RN, LPN/LVN, AP as applicable)
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required for ICU units including CVICU
Experience & Documentation Requirements
- 2 recent professional references from managers/supervisors (charge RN references not accepted)
- Employment application required
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG - all required prior to start and updated annually
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Fit mask test within 1 year of start (N95 masks accepted)
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines, boosters if negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B - titer, series, or declination (declination required if titer low/equivocal)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire
- Seasonal flu vaccination required year-round with strict deadlines; no exemptions allowed
Orientation & Facility Requirements
- Candidates must complete essential orientation paperwork within 3 weeks of start date
- Facility-specific documents must be reviewed and signed prior to start, including:
- Confidentiality Agreement
- Code of Conduct Attestation
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure
- Sexual Harassment and Misconduct Policy Attestation
- Cornerstone Module Attestation
- Pass/fail EKG competency test on arrival to orientation (educators available, two attempts allowed)
- Badge and pager return policies apply at assignment end to avoid fees
