Radiation Therapist Travel Position

Location: Texarkana, Texas
Facility: CHRISTUS St Michael Health System (CHRISTUS HEALTH Parent)
Employment Type: Travel, Full Time
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Days, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (5 days, 8 hours per day)

Job Summary

Administer radiation therapy treatments and simulations with minimal supervision according to radiation oncologist prescriptions and instructions. Assist in treatment planning, including tumor localization and dosimetry. Exercise judgment to withhold treatment if necessary until consultation with the radiation oncologist.

Key Responsibilities

• Follow administrative and departmental policies, maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability.
• Work in assigned areas following applicable guidelines.
• Maintain accurate scheduling and see patients on or before their appointment times.
• Explain procedures to patients and assess special needs (dietary, psychosocial, nursing/physician consultation).
• Prepare rooms and equipment, ensuring a safe and clean environment for radiation oncology patients.
• Report any variations in treatment setup or dose delivery, as well as equipment malfunctions, to appropriate personnel.
• Observe radiation safety measures for patients and staff.
• Perform accurate documentation and record keeping.
• Conduct weekly chart checks on the opposite machine, rotating responsibility with a partner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Skills

• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Experience

• Preferred minimum of one year in a hospital or treatment center environment.
• Students from an AMA-approved school will be considered.

Licenses & Certifications

• ARRT (T) registration or registry eligible; must complete registration within the first year of employment.
• Current Medical Radiologic Technologist certificate with the Texas Medical Board, or application started if a new graduate.
• Maintain current licensure/registration/certification and provide copies to the hospital.
• Maintain current BLS certification.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• Full-time, 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts
