Job Opportunity: Mammography Technologist
Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Position Overview
- Role: Mammography Technologist (Mammo Tech)
- Facility Type: Fast-paced outpatient clinic
- Daily Caseload: Approximately 65 patients
- Screening Mammograms: Minimum of 20 per day
- Shift: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (5x8s)
- Weekend Requirement: No
- On-call Requirement: No
- Overtime: May require shift adjustments to avoid overtime
- Floating: Required within scope, including sister facilities
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 1+ year in mammography; first-timers accepted
- Certifications/Licenses:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ARRT (Mammography)
- SCRQSA (Mammography)
- South Carolina state license (must be active prior to start)
- Equipment Knowledge: Must be proficient in operating Siemens Revelations and Hologic Dimension mammography equipment (hard requirement)
- Must perform both screening and diagnostic mammograms
- Radiation Badge: Not required for Mammography Techs
Work Environment & Expectations
- Autonomy and effective teamwork essential
- Strong communication skills and positive attitude required
- Flexibility to accommodate shift changes if needed
- Facility uses Epic for charting
- Scrub Color: Any shade of pink or dark teal top with black bottoms
- Orientation: On-site, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
Licensing & Compliance
- South Carolina license must be obtained before start date; no pending licenses accepted
- Nursys verification required if applicable
- All licensure hits must be approved by the facility
- Background checks required, including:
- 7-year residential and employment history
- SSN trace, national and state criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Fit mask test (N95) required within 90 days prior to start and annually thereafter
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS certification required (AHA or ARC accepted)
- ACLS not required for this position
- Other certifications (PALS, NRP, TNCC, CHEMO, NIH Stroke, EFM) not required unless specified for other units
- Competency exams and color blindness testing required prior to start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet job demands
- Fit mask test: N95 mask fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or documentation of immunity:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive history
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters if low titer
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
- COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records or declination form must be uploaded
Documentation & Onboarding
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge (frontal view, business casual attire)
- Facility-specific orientation modules must be completed before starting
- Proof of 2 clinical references required
- Complete employment application including all PTO, contract assignments, agency names, and no unaccounted gaps
- Background and employment verifications required for last 3 clinical employers
- Facility-specific first day instructions and training modules will be provided after clearance
Additional Notes
- Radius rule: 60 miles
- Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis
- Block scheduling may be accommodated with prior approval but not guaranteed
- Facility does not allow call-outs; guaranteed hours expected
This position is ideal for a Mammography Technologist with at least 1 year of experience, proficient in Siemens and Hologic mammography equipment, who thrives in a fast-paced outpatient setting and values teamwork and flexibility.
